Jamie B. May
Chairman & CEO
Jamie has over 20 year’s experience specializing in institutional multifamily property sales and is the founding member, Chairman and CEO of JBM®. Jamie oversees the operations, origination, capital markets, marketing and disposition of all institutional grade brokerage assignments, as well as all capitalization activities of the firm.
Prior to JBM®, Jamie was an Executive Director of Institutional Property Advisors as well as the Chairman and CEO of JBM® Realty Advisors. His experience draws upon three generations of the May family development, brokerage and insurance business dating back to 1939 in addition to his own prior experience in the investment advisory, brokerage, construction, development, acquisition, disposition, capital markets and management of institutional grade apartment communities.
Jamie currently serves on the Board of Directors of the National Multifamily Housing Council (NMHC), a Silver Flight multifamily council member of the national Urban Land Institute (ULI),founding member of the Multi-family Development Council of ULI Florida, is an active member of the the Real Estate Investment Council (REIC) and belongs to the National Apartment Association and the Florida Apartment Association.
Jamie is a graduate of Boston University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance and Real Estate. Additionally, he is a licensed real estate broker in Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee and New Mexico. His interests include spending time with family and friends, Ferrari road course racing, fitness training, swimming, boating, shooting, favorite holiday destinations include Aspen and Nantucket.
President & Co-Founder
Eddie Yang is President and Co-Founder of JBM®. His direct responsibilities include client advisory, business development, property analysis & financial underwriting, market surveillance, marketing and disposition execution of institutional grade market rate, tax credit and tax exempt bond financed properties.
Prior to joining the JBM® team, Eddie was with CBRE – Florida Multihousing Group and specialized in valuation and disposition of institutional multi-housing properties, fractured and stalled garden and mid/high rise condominium properties, and loan sales of over 7,000 units with an aggregate value of over $635 million. In addition, he was a member of the Debt and Equity Finance Group where he underwrote properties for debt financing according to Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae standards.
Before entering the brokerage and advisory industry, Eddie was involved in acquisitions and development of various asset types including multifamily. He also previously worked at JP Morgan in New York as an investment banking analyst and advisor.
Eddie is an advisory member of the National Multi-Housing Council (NMHC), Urban Land Institute, and the Real Estate Investment Council. He received his Bachelor of Business Administration with concentrations in Accounting and Finance from Goizueta Business School at Emory University and is a Licensed Real Estate Salesperson in the state of Florida. His interests include public speaking, tennis, golf, white water rafting, rock climbing, tarpon fishing, snow biking and snowboarding off-marker.
Senior Director of Transactions
Jonathan Barclay is a Senior Director of Transactions for JBM®. He is responsible for the team’s valuation and strategic financial underwriting and modeling; marketing, creation, production and distribution of property offering memoranda; photography; market research; and the quarterly distribution of the BrokerEdge newsletter. Mr. Barclay also serves as a liaison within the brokerage team, and with prospective purchasers and sellers by conducting property orientations, registration, onsite tours, and coordination of due diligence throughout the listing, marketing and closing of each transaction.
Prior to joining the JBM® Group, Mr. Barclay was an analyst with Jones Lang LaSalle’s – Florida Capital Markets Group in Orlando; where he was responsible for research, marketing, economic and demographic analysis as well as the creation and distribution of offering memoranda for institutional, private national and regional clientele.
Mr. Barclay has worked in the commercial real estate industry for multiple years and has experience in the marketing and sale of office and retail properties in addition to multifamily. During his career, he has assisted in the disposition and financing of more than $1.6 billion in commercial real estate assets.
Mr. Barclay earned his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees from Florida State University and is a Licensed Real Estate Salesperson in the state of Florida. His interests include public speaking, politics, FSU sports and fishing.
Director of Valuation and Advisory Services
Justin Hofford, MAI, MRICS is a Director of Valuation and Advisory Services for JBM®. His direct responsibilities include sourcing asset dispositions, financial analysis, and underwriting of existing large apartment investments including new apartment construction projects, land development, and fractured condominiums. In addition, responsibilities include developing Broker Opinion of Value (BOV) proposals, tracking development pipelines, construction, operational trends and disposition activity as well as transaction management coordinating between buyers and sellers throughout the due diligence, closing and post-closing periods.
Prior to joining JBM, Mr. Hofford spent 18 years with Cushman and Wakefield as a Senior Director in the Valuation and Advisory Services Group. With C&W Mr. Hofford was the first applicant accepted for the Career Development Program and was fundamental in the implementation of the program nationwide. Mr. Hofford was chosen out of a companywide search for a global practices initiative that sent him to Moscow, Russia to streamline best practices between countries. Mr. Hofford was also selected to construct various specialty valuation templates which are still utilized nationwide. In addition to specializing in multifamily appraisals, Mr. Hofford appraised all other categories of real estate, has provided expert witness testimony in Hillsborough, Lee and Leon counties, and provided consultation work for various clients in the form of pre and post litigation support, fundamental demand studies, and feasibility studies.
Mr. Hofford earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Florida State University. In addition, he has a Certified General Appraisal License in the state of Florida, and holds a MAI (Member of the Appraisal Institute) and MRICS (Member Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors) designation. His interests include spending time with his wife and two young children, spearfishing, any form of boating, FSU sports, and shooting sporting clay’s.
Associate Director of Client Services
JR Hobbs is the Associate Director of Client Services for JBM®. His direct responsibilities include planning, creating and executing advertising and marketing campaigns, public relations and strategic planning. Defining and deploying internal and external support by implementing strategies to deliver effective, efficient and consultative support and project management that aligns to our clients business goals and objectives. Additional responsibilities include providing leadership of team success management, collaboration, structure and operation of the JBM team by provisioning all decision making by the Chairman and CEO. Serves as a liaison between the JBM team, IT, suppliers, principals and investor clientele. This role intuitively links to overall execution of investor transaction management, client services, analysis, research, due diligence and documentation.
Mr. Hobbs is a graduate from Florida State University where he received a Bachelor of Science in Information, Communication and Technology. During his time at Florida State University he developed his knowledge of information technology and digital graphics. Using the skills he learned in school, he created a successful clothing brand that focused on BMX and other action sports. His creation and operation of the clothing company helped Joseph further sharpen his business, management and communication skills with clients around the world, and his education and business experience make him a vital member of the JBM team. JR is also a professional BMX rider and travels the world competing in different BMX contests and events.
